Visitors are invited to explore this wonderful house, discovering beautiful interiors and one of Europe’s finest private collections of furniture, pictures and ceramics.

In the Stables Block, built by Roger Morris in 1733 in the Anglo-Palladian style, enjoy refreshments in the Stables Café, browse the Gift Shop and explore our seasonal exhibitions. 2018 welcomes a brand new exhibition; The Spencers: The History of an English Family.

This beautifully thought out, brand new, exhibition charts the story of the Spencer family from Medieval sheep-farmers, through the dynasty of politicians and strong female figures, to the present today. The vast majority of the items on show here are not usually on public view – from great treasures through to intimate family pieces.

The upshot of this intriguing exhibition – located in the exquisite, ironstone, Stables next to Althorp – is to illustrate 500 years of the Spencer family and their contribution to English public life.
